YOUNG DIVERCITIES: Encountering and Living with Hyper-Diversity – Young People’s Urban Experiences is the title of an upcoming international seminar taking place in Utrecht, 5 to 6 November 2015. We are looking for researchers to present papers on this theme.Organised by Utrecht University (Ronald van Kempen and Gideon Bolt) and the University of Leicester (Peter Kraftl), YOUNG DIVERCITIES aims for 20 to 25 researchers to present their findings. The seminar will bring together excellent researchers who have made the link between urban diversity and the experiences, attitudes, perceptions and behaviour of young people.

We are interested in papers exploring attitudes, experiences, perceptions and behaviour, for example, where and how do young people make social contacts? We are specifically interested in papers that focus on inequality issues: which groups have more opportunities than others and why? All papers should focus on the link between urban diversity and young people’s lives.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Gill Valentine, University of Sheffield
Prof. Peter Hopkins, Newcastle University
Prof. Sirpa Tani, University of Helsinki

We can cover your local costs (hotel accommodation for 3 nights, all meals and drinks) provided that you will have a full paper finished before the seminar. Unfortunately we cannot cover your travel costs. We intend to produce a special publication or edited volume on the basis of the contributions.

Key Dates

Abstracts due before 15 May 2015 emailed to [email protected]
Abstracts selected by the end of May 2015 with researchers advised soon after
Full paper prepared by 20 October 2015
