Titled Professions, skills and volunteering. Balancing roles for effective initiatives?, workshop B5 coordinated by Eduardo Barberis will provide insight into how initiatives can benefit from diversity.
The workshop will begin with two short presentations by academics who will introduce the theme from a scholarly and practical perspective. They will suggest some issues emerging from DIVERCITIES fieldwork, and from larger debates on the role of professionals and volunteers in diversity-related initiatives and programmes.
Workshop participants will discuss the suggestions and present their own experiences and cases on the topic, particularly those where balance between professionals and volunteers has been an issue. Suggestions emerging from the discussion will be summarised to provide recommendations based on research and experience.
