The Copenhagen team has been at work over the autumn on a major DIVERCITIES publication in Danish. The book is aimed at policymakers and governance officials in municipalities as well as enterprises and organisations interested in, or working with, diversity at local and/or national level. The title of the book is “Den hypermangfoldige by – Potentialer og udfordringer”, which translates to: The hyper-diverse city – Potentials and challenges.
The purpose of the book is to provide insight to practitioners with on the latest international research about hyper-diversity. It is a tool to realise the potentials of working with diversity. The book is a supplement to the work already happening in municipalities, housing organisations, enterprises and other organisations. It offers new perspectives on the complex diversity in large European cities, that in time will become a condition for our lives in all communities.
Providing a theoretical and methodical framework of DIVERCITIES based on research in the Bispebjerg district, the books main narrative revolves around four key perspectives on diversity: municipality; governance arrangements; residents; and the entrepreneurs.
Based on the ressearch results from these four perspectives, nine recommendations for working with hyper-diversity were formulated. The recommendations highlight the central points for recognising the potentials and challenges when working with diversity.
The books concluding chapter is about working with diversity from an international perspective, comparing the Copenhagen case to the other cases of the DIVERCITIES project.
The book has been sent to relevant actors all over Denmark, and we will be handing out copies to participants at Boligdagn. Stay tuned for a repot from Rikke on that event.
